HEY-YO!
Just one of those days I decided to take a pregnancy test “just for fun.” And just in case my eyes were playing tricks on me, I took another one the next week.
Thank God that gone are the days when you are trying to figure out if the line is darker or not. Technology is amazing.
Without further ado, the star of this post.
I am about nine weeks along, due May 26. I know I am breaking tradition with the hiding the news until you are past the first trimester, but my husband and I have always been really bad at keeping secrets, especially big ones. Seriously, my family members are all, “don’t tell Sylvia, she can’t keep a secret to save her life!” Which isn’t true, of course. And I have been so sick with morning sickness, I just needed to commiserate with some of my online mama friends. I seriously have not been this sick since I was pregnant with Ruth. The poor girls have been stuck in the house the past two weeks watching mama throw up. Sub optimal. Scott has been invaluable, though. Bringing home dinner, doing the dishes, bathing the girls and putting them to bed, basically everything I have been unable to do. Here’s hoping I’m out of the woods soon and start feeling better.
To answer some questions you might have, no I am not hoping for a boy (I couldn’t care less about the sex), but I would be lying if I said Scott wasn’t hoping for his boy, and Wren and baby boo will be about 17 months apart. People always ask if our pregnancies are planned, but our answer to that is that we do not care if we planned these babies or God did, we love each one as much as the last.
Fasten your seatbelts, because we are about to embark on the adventure of having four under four! We couldn’t be more excited.
Congrats Sylvia!!! Such great news!!! 🙂

Congratulations!! What a sweet blessing 🙂 I hope and pray the sickness passes VERY VERY soon. Sounds like you have a wonderful husband who is taking good care of you and your girls. I am blessed to have a hubby like that too. He has been amazing over the last year as we went thru all the craziness of being pregnant with and having our fifth baby. Hang in there!

OH MY GOSH! WHERE ARE MY MANNERS???
Over all the gushing about “yay babies!!!” I TOTALLY forgot to ask: how do YOU feel?
I really pray that you’ll get better soon and you won’t keep puking until delivery time!

Felt horrible the past few weeks. Lots of throwing up and fatigue. But I am already back in my fat pants because the only thing that makes me feel better is eating. Ugh. I think I am slowly feeling better though. Can’t wait until the first trimester is over!

After the night I had with my two year old and almost one year old I don’t know how I am saying this but…. I secretly envy you:) another beautiful life! God has blessed you so abundantly. You will be a great mom of four! And if it is a boy…. Prepare yourself lol. I have one of each and they are very different! The definition of boy is noise with dirt on it lol. Congratulations to all of you on your new miracle that God has entrusted your family with.

Thank you! I need all the encouragement I can get! I am kind of terrified of having a boy. I have this girl thing down, but I would have no idea what the heck to do with a boy! It would totally throw a wrench in my diaper routine.

I got one girl that is the definition of dirt and noise. NO ONE can drown the noise she can make. So I am one of those that DO NOT believe that “boys get dirty and girls don’t”. I believe it’s more of a character thing and how we handle it. I grew up with all the people always telling me the stuff I cannot do just because I’m a girl. And winning a peeing contest is the only thing that I definitely think is out of discussion – due to certain anatomic circumstances it is really hard to pee far when you don’t have the equipment to aim properly 😉
All my kids loved everything with wheels starting at about the age of 12 months (more or less. My daughter’s first word was “auto” – the german word for “car” – I think she was 10 months old). And they had their “doll phase” around the age of 2, they loooove LEGO and those wooden rails and they love to cook. In their toy kitchen or in my real one. They love to read books and paint and they like board games. And they love their toy cars and the 3 story parking garage. They are now 4, 3 and 1.5 years old, with the girl in the middle.
The “only” gender-based difference I now see is that our oldest loves football (soccer) while my daughter refuses to play (which I think it has more to do with the fact that someone stomped on her feet with those spiked shoes they wear on the field than the fact that there are a lot more boys in training than there are girls) and that she loves the dancing lessons where he tends to stay in the back (but then repeats everything at home).
So if it’s a boy, the only real difference I can tell you for the first couple of months / years: be prepared to get peed on from various different angles! And if you open the diaper and see an erection – don’t start wondering, just CLOSE THAT DIAPER BACK UP AS FAST AS YOU CAN. Unless you want to get peed on (after changing clothes – mine and his, I remembered that bio class when our teacher explained to us the connection between full bladders and erections a.k.a. “morning wood”).
Boys are a bit easier to clean up – you don’t have to fret about poo in their “girl parts” that much. But, to be honest, if you have a screaming and kicking baby on the changing table, that has sh*t everywhere and does NOT want the get changed, you really don’t care, what sex that baby has, you just want the mess to get cleaned up as fast as possible and with the least damage to your surroundings.

Haha, thank you! All of that is extremely interesting and useful information! I can’t wait to know. If it is a boy, I will have so many more questions!

It tells you how many weeks along (since ovulation) you are! Pretty crazy, no? Thanks! Ruth and Rose are 13 months apart, Rose and Wren are 15 months apart (had to cancel Rose’s 15 month checkup because my water broke, lol) and I think Wren and this one will be about 17 months apart!

Yayyy!!!!!! Congrats! May babies are awesome (my birthday is May 29 😉 ). Our two girls are 21 months apart, and Baby Brother will be about 19 months younger than our second daughter. I love that spacing, old enough to be walking and able to eat and play independently, but close enough that they won’t remember a time when sister/brother wasn’t there. You look INCREDIBLE, and here’s hoping you start feeling incredible again soon.

Thank you! This is our longest spacing yet, so I am looking forward to having an older toddler once baby comes this time around, lol!
